POSITION:
Taviano is a town located in the south-west of Salento, just outside the popular destination of Gallipoli. The earliest evidence of human inhabitants dates all the way back to the Neolithic era. There are several historical churches, a palace, and Castelforte which is an unusual landmark located on the outskirts of the town, and was originally a facility for single mothers and their children.

The nearest beach is less than a 5 minute drive away. The natural reserve of Punta Pizzo, with its Caribbean-like shore, is also just a few minutes away by car. Mancaversa is Taviano’s seaside community that is where many locals spend their summer holiday. Taviano is also known among locals for its excellent restaurants that serve traditional and local cuisine.
Specchia has several churches, palazzi or palaces, and a castle. In about 20 minutes by car you can reach both the Ionian and Adriatic coasts from Specchia.
