The kitchen is located on the lower floor. It is generously equipped for self-catering. Information addresses on regional products are available. Microwave, kitchen utensils and much more are available.
A Roman pot and recipe books are also available. In one corner you will find the coffee bar - a fully automatic coffee machine for espresso, further a filter coffee machine, and also the Dröppelmina (Bergische Kaffeetafel), milk frother. A wine rack invites you to fill it up. We recommend a trip to the nearby Middle Rhine to visit the winegrowers and taste their wines. A hike through the vineyards is also a highlight.
DINING ROOM
Next to the kitchen is the dining room, with a large table in the middle, for six people. The picture themes on the walls are of the Middle Rhine, with historical highlights and sights.

On the upper floor, in addition to the bedrooms, there is a small utility room with a fridge (so that you can have drinks etc. near the terrace in summer.) Here there is another single bed. On this floor there is another bathroom with shower and toilet.

The large living room invites you to relax, equipped with a small simple music system (CD). In the cold season you can watch the flames in the fireplace and heat the room comfortably.
The walls are decorated with art, a large silkscreen by W. Troschke dominates. English watercolourists are also represented, as well as drawings by artists of the classical modern period, from Picasso to Kokoschka, Degas and Braque. Many figures by Giefer-Bahn, Westerwald ceramics can be found on the windowsills.

History
It is a house with history that is over two hundred years old at its core. It is located in the old village centre of the Westerwald village of Niederhofen and there are also other old half-timbered buildings in its vicinity. It served the families as a sideline farm. People worked in the mining industry and the small farms in the villages with very little agriculture helped them to survive.
During the renovation, care was taken to leave the rooms and many elements, such as floors, unchanged in their structure, so that the architecture remains unaltered. As a result, the house has retained its old charm - with old doors and creaking floors. The garden is bordered by beech hedges and lilac hedges. From the bedroom you look into a small vineyard.
THE HOUSE
The house offers a large space of about 140 sqm., plus a garden with terrace and parking for 3 cars.
GARDEN
From the large living room you enter the small garden. The terrace, bordered with potted flowers, offers seating on comfortable classic garden chairs - a beer garden set, table and benches, is also available.
A fireplace on a bordered natural stone base provides romantic summer evenings with the flames. The embers of the fireplace can then be used as a barbecue with a matching grate.
grill.
Cushions for the garden furniture are available.
In the garden we also find a small garden house. If you arrive by bike or ebike, the vehicles can be parked there safely and dryly.
The garden is also filled with art. Life-size figures look out of the hedge everywhere.
The sheep scenes by Susanne Boerner are bizarre:
"Family Brömmelkötter"
If THAT isn't a happy family!
The Brömmelkötters, consisting of the wild Luzy, Papa Günther and Junior Klausi. Cheerful and content, they enjoy the lush grass, the mild air and life itself, spreading good humour. Admittedly, as lawnmowers they are a complete miscast, but as spreaders of good humour they are the first choice and what could be more important than good humour?
WEINBERG
From the garden there is a passage in the hedge that leads to the vineyard. One is surprised - a vineyard in the Westerwald, after all, almost 50 vines planted on small terraces, with a fountain in the middle, supplied by a
supplied by a water spout.
A variety of herbs grow between vines and in small areas. Here, if the winter has not frozen everything, we find peppermint, sage, thyme, lovage, St. John's wort, wild marjoram, tarragon and many other herbs that can be used by the guests in the kitchen.
In summer and spring, you have a great view of the colourful plants from the kitchen and the bedroom. A bouquet of lavender or mint radiates hearty scents and brings us very close to nature.
COURSES - CERAMICS AND ART
Above the small vineyard is the gallery and a
print shop for graphic techniques - lithography - etching - letterpress.
When you come to the Westerwald, it is obvious to come into contact with the white gold.
Right next to the garden, we have an open, roofed room where you can model with clay and even turn the potter's wheel. There is an introduction and instruction to everything (Course 1)
Watercolour painting, exercises in nature with instruction (Course 2)
Introduction to printmaking.
Here the techniques are explained and put into practice (Course 3).
All these courses are possible during the summer months, as they usually take place outside. They are exclusively for cottage guests.
From the house you can take very nice walks. We have chosen some paths of different lengths and destinations. There are maps and brochures available.
Some routes require a short journey by car.
