The district of Upost in the Peenetal near Lake Kummerow is part of the municipality of Warrenzin, which in turn is part of the Mecklenburg Lake District and is located west of the city of Demmin. Parts of this region have been designated as a nature reserve since 2010. The slitting of the dikes created a paradise for rare bird species such as wild geese. The area is a popular holiday region, especially for water hikers, as its many forests, meadows and rivers provide ideal conditions for a carefree day in the fresh air. You can also find some rare flora and fauna here. Rural tranquility at its finest! A special feature near Upost is a large stone grave in the middle of the forest, which is rarely found in this region and may be attributed to megalithic architecture.
