The Living Areas

The combined kitchen and living area on the ground floor invites you to prepare and enjoy fresh meals with its cozy dining area. Its vaulted ceiling with arches and lovingly crafted steel beams evoke memories of the past as a stable. On nice days, it’s just a few steps to the south-facing terrace overlooking the green courtyard.

Just a few stairs from the dining area lead to a spacious sleeping/living area on the upper floor, which—true to the generous loft character—takes up the typical barn architecture with surprising room height and an open beam structure. A cozy sofa bed (2.00 m x 1.60 m wide) serves as a fully functional seating or sleeping option. The panoramic window offers a view over the courtyard and the surrounding nature. A textile screen provides ample shade and adequate blackout. On the same level, the generously cut shower bath offers refreshment and relaxation.

The small mezzanine area is accessible via a space-saving staircase. It offers space for a fully functional bed (2.00 m x 1.40 m wide), from which you can wonderfully count the stars while falling asleep through the generously sized roof window directly above.

Suitable for adventure seekers who are not afraid of heights and love the extraordinary.

Barn Loft at Gelbachtal

Experience unforgettable days in the charming Barn Loft at Gelbachtal, a lovingly furnished holiday apartment in the heart of the idyllic Westerwald. Nestled amidst unspoiled nature above the Gelbachtal, you will find a unique accommodation that combines rustic charm with modern comfort.

Location

The cozy property is located in the small village of Ruppenrod, a district of Isselbach in the picturesque Gelbachtal, blending historical elements with contemporary amenities and offering space for relaxation and unwinding.

It is the perfect starting point for both small and larger hikes – whether on foot or by bike – along the Gelbach or further on to the Lahn near Obernhof. Shopping opportunities can be found in nearby Koblenz, Limburg, Diez, or at the Montabaur outlet.

The holiday apartment is part of a restored barn, with the renovation completed in 2024. It spans two floors and a maisonette area.



Activities

Enjoy your coffee in the sun on the south terrace or sit under a tree in the shade during the hot summer months. Start hikes directly from your doorstep or discover the romantic villages and sights of the region.

From Ruppenrod, wonderful hikes can be made along marked paths.

For example, the Buchfinken-Gelbach tour can be started from Giershausen. Mountain bikers will also find plenty to enjoy here.

The Herthasee is perfect for lovely walks and swimming in the summer. The nearby Lahn offers boat tours on pedal boats, canoes, or kayaks.

On the second Sunday in July, the car-free Gelbachtal Day takes place. Here, you can enjoy the road from Weinähr to Montabaur by bicycle, rollerblades, or on foot.

Upon prior arrangement before booking, there is a possibility for riding lessons or excursions as well as horse accommodation at the nearby riding stable “Pferd & Ich.”

On the 4th weekend in July, traditional bread baking still takes place in the old bakehouse in Isselbach. There is also an inn: Zur alten Brauerei.

There is a carport with an electric charging station for the car.

Due to the space-saving staircase to the sleeping area, the sofa bed is the only easily accessible sleeping option in this house.

For the first night, a final cleaning fee of €30 will apply, after the second night only the overnight price will be charged.

If traveling by train or bus, the host offers a shopping service to the supermarket.
