The ground floor (monument) of the Posthalterhof was renovated in 2019. It was important to optimally combine the historical with the modern on 254 sqm. New bathrooms, box-spring beds in all 4 bedrooms, open kitchen with gas cooker, Wi-Fi in all rooms, flat-screen TVs with Netflix & Prime, Alexa in the dining and fireplace room, but also the special flair of the old walls was preserved.

Cook together on the gas cooker and enjoy food, wine and togetherness at the large dining table with good music.
Or after exploring the surroundings, chat, play games or watch TV in the historic fireplace room by the open fire.

Suitable for up to 8 people, the monument offers 4 bedrooms, of which the well room and the coachman's room have separate access. The cave room is adjacent to the mountain room and can only be reached through the mountain room.

On the private terrace there is a large table for 12 people as well as a barbecue.
At Christmas 2021 we opened our new sauna area for all guests of the Posthalterhof. In our large garden there is a 500-year-old vaulted cellar embedded in the rock. Here our guests can relax in an extraordinary atmosphere in the sauna for up to 6 people and in the whirlpool. And listen to music with a warming flame in the sheltered outdoor area in the covered lounge corner and enjoy the magnificent view of the castle.


Our garden and the sauna are on the 1st floor and can be reached via a staircase in the house.

The Posthalterhof, built in 1683 by Thurn und Taxis, has been lovingly restored with great attention to detail, offering an exceptional ambiance in ancient walls. Antique furniture and modern furnishings of the bedrooms, newly renovated bathrooms, and fully equipped open kitchens are stylishly combined. Additionally, Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs with Netflix & Prime, and Alexa devices are available in dining or living rooms.

In addition to the ground floor (historic monument), which can be rented for up to 8 people, the attic (Castle Maisonette) accommodates up to 6 people. On the first floor, there are 4 apartments that are ideal for 2 people. The Ahrquelle apartment offers about 25 sqm of cozy sleeping and living space with a small kitchenette and bathroom. The Georgstor apartment has about 55 sqm and also features a couch, a large kitchenette, and a spacious bathroom. The two newly renovated apartments, Jakobsweg and Eifelsteig, have direct access to their own small terrace with a dining table and grill through a door in the apartment. The Jakobsweg apartment, with about 35 sqm, has a studio character due to the separate double bed and large couch. The Eifelsteig apartment, with approximately 30 sqm, features large armchairs for relaxation in its cozy sleeping and living area. Dogs are welcome here.

Guests of the ground floor have their own terrace with a large table and grill. Guests of the attic can access the garden on the first floor, which features a terrace and a large table with a grill. Those staying in the Ahrquelle or Georgstor apartments can also use the terrace located in the garden, equipped with dining tables and a grill.

Here, our guests can relax in the sauna and hot tub in an extraordinary atmosphere – accommodating up to 6 people. In the sheltered outdoor area, guests can listen to music in the covered lounge corner with a warmth flame and enjoy the magnificent view of Blankenheim Castle. The use of the wellness area is free of charge and can be booked by our guests for a few hours each day.

2 private parking spaces are located directly next to the Posthalterhof for guests on the ground floor. Above the garden area, there are 3 more private parking spaces available. Bicycles and motorcycles can also be securely parked.

Further important notes:
There are a few stairs within the ground floor apartment. The 4 apartments for 2 persons are located on the first floor and can be accessed via the old staircase in the hallway or the staircase from the inner courtyard. The Castle Maisonette holiday apartment is on the 2nd floor and features many carrying beams. Due to the character and construction of the house, it is not suitable for children under 3 years.

Directly opposite, you can purchase fresh rolls and bread as well as cakes at the bakery. The Engel butcher shop, known for its Eifel quality, is about 200 meters away and offers meat and sausages produced from local Eifel farms. A pharmacy, 2 banks, a knick-knack shop, a boutique, and a bookstore are also located in the town next to Patina Antiques. Supermarkets, discount stores, and drugstores are just a 3-minute drive away. You can enjoy excellent food at the "Brasserie an der Ahr," which is located less than 150 meters from the Posthalterhof and offers French-German cuisine. Landlust offers flammkuchen and salads in a beautiful ambiance. Other restaurants like "My Restaurant," "Beros Grill," and "La Rustica" are reachable within a few minutes on foot. The "AhrZeit Cafe & Wine Bar" is located by the pond and offers wonderful seating by the water, as well as great food & drinks.

In addition to the Eifelsteig & AhrSteig, Eifelspuren & Eifelschleifen, and Römer- & Tiergartentunnelweg trails in Blankenheim, the nearby Lampertstal and Nohner waterfalls offer countless hiking and biking tours.

The Nürburgring is 35 km away. The City Outlet Center and historical Bad Münstereifel are about 20 km away, as is the picturesque castle town of Kronenburg, which is also worth a visit due to the Kronenburg Lake. The Freilinger Lake, suitable for swimming, is just a 15-minute drive away, as is the Butterfly House in Ahrhütte. The Cologne Fair is 75 km away; due to good transportation links, the travel time is less than 1 hour. Trier is reachable within 100 km.
