Apartment Historischer Davidshof i Oldenswort, Schleswig-Holstein

At the edge of the Wadden Sea National Park, in the heart of the Eiderstedt marsh peninsula, stands the historic Davidshof from 1824 on a 6,500 sqm mound (dwelling hill).
As early as the late 15th century, the mound was constructed to protect against flooding, and a large stand of trees now shields it from wind and weather.

The Davidshof is a private residence that we occasionally open to guests.
The traditionally T-shaped Frisian house, built of red brick, is divided into a cross wing (living area) and a long wing (former stable), and is roofed with thatch.
Heavy wooden beams provide the 12-meter-high building with the necessary structural stability.
The oldest parts of the building date back to the late 16th century.

Located 4 km from the nearest village, Oldenswort, you will experience tranquility, see cattle and sheep grazing on the adjacent meadows, can spot up to 18 bird species on the mound, and observe nutria, herons, cormorants, and many other meadow and water birds from the jetty.

Yet, we are not completely cut off from the world.
Oldenswort has a bakery, butcher, grocer, a bank, a dentist, and general practitioners.
Supermarkets, gas stations, pharmacies, and a medical center can be found in Tönning (9 km).

Ideally, you explore the landscape by bicycle on paved farm or cycle paths.
Husum (16 km), Friedrichstadt (15 km), Garding (10 km), or St. Peter Ording (20 km) with its unique sandy beaches are worthwhile destinations.
Bicycles can be rented in Garding, for example; they will be delivered to us and picked up again.

For the distance, you are compensated with a well-kept park property, art and crafts from the region in the gallery, and a high-quality equipped apartment.

Our mound is not connected to the public sewage system and therefore has a modern, biological, water-purifying home treatment plant. To relieve this system, we cannot offer a laundry service and kindly ask you, if possible, to bring your own bed linen and towels; we provide sheets (due to the oversize).
If necessary, we are happy to do laundry for you.
