De Kiekendief is an ideal starting point for many activities in the forest and dunes, beach and sea. For the children, the swimming paradise Caluna, Ecomare and Shipwreck and Beachcombers Museum Flora are not far away. For horse lovers there are many equestrian routes through forest and dunes all over Texel. There are a number of riding stables in the immediate vicinity. The villages of De Koog (cozy terraces) and Den Burg (the shopping heart of Texel, with a very trendy Streetfood Bar) are only a few kilometers from the Kiekendief.
